We are smack-dab in the middle of exam season, so what better way to revise than to procrastinate with a little blogging!

Today, we are meeting our exquisite Grant Director: Christina Johnson!

Between eating copious amounts of sweets in the enterprise zone and talking me into a caffeine detox (like that's ever going to happen!), she is on top of it all and taking names!

What interested you in enactus? 
The opportunity to help others in a way which I would not be able to otherwise

What do you want to do after your degree? 

Work in investment banking or asset management

Any hidden/special talents or hobbies? 

Cant think of any special talents :/ but as for hobbies - gym and travelling

Last thing you googled? 

I was about to google “how to see the last thing you googled” so according to my internet history it was “Nendo Kenya”

Best Characteristic in a person? 

Positivity!

How do you see you life going in the next five years? 

Finishing university and then working my butt off

Best plan for a lazy Sunday?

I don't really do lazy.. however I would have a lie in till 8am, have a nice breakfast, hit the gym and come home to relax. Watch movies and just remain stationed on the sofa.

Favorite song to sing in the shower?

Hmm.. I don’t actually sing in the shower (I know, weird)

If you weren’t studying/doing what you are now, what would you be doing instead? 

I would be the CEO of an established company or my own and be jet setting around the world.

What is something you hope everyone experiences? 

Love and happiness!

Best advice you have ever received? 

Not sure about ever but… “Don’t let anyone tell you what you can and cannot do”

Best of 2014!

There is no denying that Enactus sheffield had quite a year, and seeing as we are a full week into the new year, we thought a trip down memory lane is well over-due! So here is our top ten best bits of 2014!

1. Nationals Prep

 Which meant a lot of mug washing and practicing vocal projection.

2. Winning Nationals

Just Yes.

3. Casually making soap in the enterprise zone

4. We had our first Summer Internship Ever

Resulting in a Vine account and re-igniting our love for Ice Breakers!

We have THE best Ice Breakers.
Bonus Points for attendees of 'porridge'.
Also, I am sorry. 

5. The Fun Run

6. Jonny Morris as the World Cup Presentation Team Coordinator. 

Otherwise referred to as Maestro Morris. 

It may be worthy to note that Jonny was also our Flag Bearer. See Bullet 10. 

7. We had our most interactive Training Day so far!

World Cup was such an experience and I can't help myself - I have to include this beautiful snippet, written by the brilliant Rob Ryan:

" I think my favourite moment of enactus 2014 (and there have been many - from winning nationals to making the leap from member to mentor) has actually got to be the moment we were knocked out at World Cup in the semi-finals. Strange choice I know, but bear with. What made this moment magical was that being one of the final leagues to be announced (if not the last, my memory fails me), our nervousness and anticipation was through the roof. As an alumni who had gained some distance from the team over summer, I was 100% certain their incredible presentation and hours of hard work had made it onto a stage I could only dream of presenting on. Yet despite this, they didn't announce our name. But the reaction was pure Enactus Sheffield and it made me so proud. The lights went down, Coldplay's 'a sky full of stars' came on and the room went into final-round gossip reaction mode. But not Sheffield. Led by James Kirk and Jonny Morris, dancers extraordinaires, Sheffield got up, shook off the looks of disappointment and had a right old boogie. So much so that the Chinese and Americans behind us started to film us. We smiled, we danced and gave each other a big old hug and it was a moment I shall never forget and despite not having been involved in a lot of their efforts over summer, I still felt that enactus connection and connection to Sheffield. Amazing projects, amazing presentation just not their year. An incredible moment nonetheless and my highlight of 2014. "

And we are back with the ever popular 'Meet The Execs" series!

This year, starting with the witty, the musical, the most inappropriately appropriate HR Director: Elmo Law.

Name and Course

Elmo (yes my real name is actually Elmo) Law. Electronic and Communications Engineering. 

What interested you in Enactus?

Making a change to people who need our help the most but in a sustainable and practical way; a hand up not a hand out.

Who was the first person you met from Enactus?

The first person I met was the lovely and intelligent Ms. Trish Roberts, Former Homemade Director. I remember when we first met, she lectured me for about 40 mins straight about underground ancient cities and I pretended to understand and nodded along intellectually.

Hidden/special talents or hobbies?

I can shred on the drums.

Last thing you googled?

My spelling is horrendous. So probably 'how to spell horrendous'.

If you weren’t doing what you are now, what would you be doing instead? 

If I was talented enough, I'd love to be some type of artist. Maybe being Banksy. Yeah that's my dream job, being Banksy.

Most embarrassing moment of your life so far?

Probably re-reading the answers I've given for this and cringing. 

Rise of the machines vs Zombie apocalypse

I'd take Zombies any day. Couldn't imagine having to fight to the death against my microwave.

What wouldn't you wish on any of your enemies?

Stubbed toes. Worst pain in the world.

Favorite thing about Enactus?

Working with so many driven and creative people.

Any regrets?

Not making the most of an eat all you can buffet.
